Heart

What would you be willing to do to live longer?

The first celebrity surgeon, Dr Christiaan Barnard shocked the world in 1967 when the South African was first to transplant a human heart. With good looks, charm, and a flair for controversy, Dr Barnard demanded the spotlight for decades. At the end of his career, he is called upon to give a speech celebrating his work.  But instead, recently rocked by professional and personal tragedy, Barnard goes off script and shocks the audience with an insider's knowledge of the cost of making medical progress.  This audience-interactive event combines jaw-dropping, well-sourced stories from medicine, media, and politics with Barnard’s native charm and sometimes disturbing personal honesty.
